Guest Bedroom Decor – Creating a Cosy Bedroom
New year, new hopes, so what about a new decor? Now that all the madness has passed and all your guests are gone, it is the perfect time to redecorate your guest bedroom, especially because this time of year we have sales so it is the perfect time to go shopping..
Creating a cosy bedroom will make your guests feel welcomed and comfortable. I know that this is not an easy task, so I have selected a few decorating ideas to help you out.
- Bedside Lamps
Believe it or not, but sleeping in an unknown bedroom can cause small accidents and you don’t want your guest complaining that after turning the lights off they stumbled and hurt themselves. Adding bedside lamps to the bedroom not only adds a nice touch, but it can also be very helpful to your guests.
If you want to be creative, you could change the base of your table lamp. Or buy a big clear vase and put some flowers inside (I’d personally recommend orchids) and voilà, you have yourself a chic, original and beautiful lamp.
Tufted Headboards
Tufted headboards not only add a shot of glamour and sophistication to the bedroom, but also make the sleeper more comfortable. It will remind your guests of the 5 star hotels on the sophisticated Parisian boulevards. They are therefore perfect if you want your guests to enjoy their sleep.
Decorative Pillows
Pillows are a low cost bedroom item and can absolutely change the look of your guest bedroom. You can also add decorative pillows to match the overall style of the guest room.
Chairs
Another simple and great item you should add to your guest room is a chair. You can chose a chair that will match the décor of your room and if you room is plain you can always add a colourful chair to brighten up the room. This will completely change the look of the room whilst making it more comfortable for your guests at the same time, as sitting on the bed is not very comfortable.
Bed and Mattress
Don’t forget that the bed and mattress where your guest will be sleeping on is also very important. After so much effort to decorate the place for your guests, the last thing you want is for them to be complaining of backache when they leave your house.
If your guest room is small, you may want to consider purchasing an ottoman bed. These beds are usually upholstered and have hinges and hydraulic assisted filters that can raise the mattress to reveal a substantial amount of space. This space is the perfect solution to storing luggage, shoes and others. You could also buy some plastic boxes to help your guests organize their things.
If your house is small and you don’t have that many rooms available, you should consider buying a guest bed. They are affordable and the bed frames can be as compact as you like as they do not have to feature a headboard or food end. Some guest beds also have built in pull-outs for an additional mattress.
